State Jobless Rate Dips In July

Ohio's unemployment rate fell in July.

The latest numbers show that Ohio's unemployment rate was 5.7% in July, down from the revised rate of 6.2% in June.

The national unemployment rate for July was 5%, unchanged from June.

Barbara Riley is director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. She says the drop in Ohio's unemployment rate is primarily due to a decrease in the number of people who were seeking work.

Meigs County had the highest rate of unemployment in July at 9.1%, while Delaware and Holmes counties had the lowest rate at 3.8%.
