A Sunday afternoon bicycle ride turned deadly at an intersection where cyclists have been killed in the past.
It's considered one of the gems of our area, the Little Miami Bike Trail, but there is one spot in Hamilton Township where now two riders have died the last year or so.
Matthew Howard, 40, of Middletown was riding his bike on the trail where it crosses Stubbs Mills Road. Police say he ran right into the side of a truck which was not speeding at the time. Police say the truck driver will not be charged.
A similar accident at the intersection killed a rider about a year ago and people who use the trail say cars often speed there. And they say, although there is a stop sign on the trail, bike riders don't always use it.
Bike rider Patrick Haas says, "It's mainly on the biker to stop there and look left and right. The cars should be aware there's bikers crossing, but if you bike here, you should know to stop at the intersection. Look left and right and make sure there's no one coming."
