Walmart raises age restriction for firearm purchases: Read the company's full statement

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Walmart has reviewed its firearm policy.

Below, you can read the company's full statement on the matter:

In light of recent events, we've taken an opportunity to review our policy on firearm sales. Going forward, we are raising the age restriction for purchase of firearms and ammunition to 21 years of age. We will update our processes as quickly as possible to implement this change.

The statement comes on the same day that Dick's Sporting Goods announced they were ending the sale of assault-style firearms from their stores, effective immediately.

Walmart has more than 11,695 stores in 28 countries. It earned $485.9 billion in 2017, according to their website.
