New Mexico Man Found Not Guilty In LaGrange Fire

A LaGrange County jury has found a man not guilty of starting a fire that destroyed two buildings in February of 2004.

The jury deliberated for about three hours before acquitting Anthony Hood of New Mexico. The Indiana fire about 40 miles north of Fort Wayne destroyed a jewelry store and an attorney's office. Authorities said Hood implicated building owner Nathan Lumbard of LaGrange in planning the fire.

Prosecutor Jeff Wible said he will wait a few weeks before he decides if he will pursue a conspiracy to commit arson charge against Lumbard. He is in a federal prison on unrelated charges.
