Man Accused Of Killing 13 Year Old Remains In Custody

HAMMOND, Ind. (AP) - A suburban Chicago man remains in federal custody today as authorities investigate the death of a 13-year-old Hammond, Indiana, girl he is accused of molesting.

The decapitated body of Alexandria Anaya was found near the Riverside, Illinois, home of 29-year-old Rudolfo Heredia. Anaya was last seen alive leaving her home the morning of August 13th. Her nude torso was found wrapped in chains August 16th in the Little Calumet River in the Chicago suburbs.

Heredia has not been charged in the girl's death. He is scheduled to appear in federal court on Wednesday for a detention hearing.

Heredia had lived with the girl's mother, Sandra Anaya, off and on through 2003, but the couple broke up this spring after Alexandra accused him of molesting her since age seven.
