Cab Driver Awarded for Aiding in Arrests of Fugitives

Whoever said fighting crime doesn't pay should talk to cab driver Mike Wagers.

Wagers was awarded $10,000 today by U.S. Marshalls at the Federal Courthouse in Covington.

Wagers said he was "overwhelmed" by the reward.  He intended on giving half of the money to his best friend whose wife died recently and using the other half for a vacation.

Wagers alerted authorities after he drove fugitives Geroge and Jennifer Hyatte over one hundred miles from northern Kentucky to a motel in Columbus.  The couple was wanted in Tennessee for killing a corrections officer during a courthouse escape.
