Forest Park Police Shooting

Forest Park saw its second shooting in 44 years on Thursday. Both shootings have involved police officers.

Phil Cannon with the Forest Park Police Department says when two officers responded to a call at a home on Kemper Road, a man inside was repeatedly stabbing himself. Cannon says they tried tasing the man, but he allegedly lunged at them with the knife, so both officers opened fire. The man died at the hospital.

"At this particular time, it does appear that the officers were defending themselves according to our policies and procedures," says Cannon.

Back in June, a Forest Park officer shot 34-year-old David Render after the officer said Render pulled a weapon. Render survived the shooting. Phil Cannon says an investigation showed that shooting was justified.
