Commission Frustrated with Latest Taft Gift Disclosures

The executive director of the Ohio Ethics Commission says the agency was frustrated when Governor Taft revealed still more gifts he failed to report.

Director David Freel says the commission is trying its best to come up with a final accurate accounting of gifts that Taft disclosed on his annual financial forms.

Taft disclosed eight additional gifts after he was convicted last month of failing to report several golf outings and other gifts he was treated to.

Freel says Taft's plea agreement prohibits any additional charges on other gifts he may have failed to report.

Freel also says the office is checking on two more gifts involving Taft but he would not give details.

Those gifts would also not result in additional charges.
