Miers' Campaign Record

WASHINGTON (AP) - First she backed Al Gore for president. Then, years later, she switched to longtime friend George W. Bush.

Federal Election Commission records show Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers donated one-thousand dollars to Gore's unsuccessful presidential run in 1988. At the time, she was a lawyer in private practice in Texas.

Twelve years later, Miers contributed to Bush when he ran against Gore for president. She also gave five-thousand dollars to the Bush-Cheney recount fund when the election results were still in doubt in Florida.

She's also contributed more than ten-thousand dollars over the years to the campaigns of such Texas Republicans as Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, Congressman Pete Sessions and former Senator Phil Gramm.
