Norwood Man Wanted After Daughter's Death

Norwood Police are searching for the father of a 13-year-old girl who was killed Thursday.

Danielle Franklin was found in her bedroom. Police are calling her father, Gordon Franklin, a "person of interest" in the crime. He was last seen Thursday afternoon walking along State Route 32 in Newtown, Ohio. Police say he was wearing jeans and a dark shirt. They don't believe he has access to a car, and say he is known to carry a switchblade knife.

Thursday night, dozens of Danielle's friends and family gathered at her home to hold a candlelight vigil for the girl. Her friends say the Norwood Middle School cheerleader was outgoing and popular.

Students at her school found out about her murder just before the end of the day. "I was leaving school," Gentry Gabbard says, "and one of the cheerleaders just found out that they found her body dead, and it just hit everyone. There was a lot of people crying. It was really sad."

The group that met for the vigil, walked from Franklin's house to the school, just a few blocks away. "Hopefully no one forgets this day and they don't forget Danielle," Gabbard says.

Police ask anyone with information on where Gordon Franklin may be, to call them at 513-458-4520.
