Police are investigating an apparent triple homicide this morning in Newport.
Authorities were called this morning to 15 Laycock Lane and found two females and one male dead inside a home.
The SWAT team was also called to the scene. After some time, police say Mike Richardson surrendered peacefully to police. He is being held in the Campbell County detention center and has been charged with two counts of murder.
Richardson apparently called his employer and his son around six o'clock this morning to tell them that he had killed his family. The son then alerted Newport Police to the slayings. According to authorities, Richardson then walked around the house until his surrender at 8:20 a.m. Police found a semi-automatic handgun inside the home.
A motive for the killings has not been established at this time.
A dog was also found shot to death in the house.
