Mama Joy Tessel's Brisket




One 5-7 lb. beef brisket

1 package Lipton onion soup mix

Black pepper



Wine (red or white)

1 can of cola






Preheat oven to 325.

Place beef brisket in roasting pan, fat side up.

Sprinkle 1 package of Lipton onion soup mix on top of brisket.

Sprinkle black pepper and paprika on top of brisket.

Pour water into pan. This will serve as a base for gravy (1-2 cups)

Add 1 cup of wine

Add 1 can of cola over the brisket.

Put in oven for 2 hours.

Add carrots and potatoes to pan surrounding the brisket, cover, then cook an additional hour. Brisket is done when a fork goes in easily.

Slice against the grain, preferably when brisket is cold.
