One Minnesota hero may not be able to see but she didn't let blindness stop her from saving an apartment building and its residents from a fire.
Ninety seven-year-old Alice Strem was awakened by a beeping in her apartment. Unable to stop it, Ms. Strems grabbed her coat and slippers and headed for the door.
As smoke filled the room, she slowly felt her way out to warn neighbors even though they were almost strangers because Ms. Strem was only staying there temporarily..
"It must be some kind of a sign that I was asked to stay the night." says Strem of her temporary residence.
Residents of the apartment building say Ms. Strem's quick thinking was the reason nobody got hurt.
