State Says Norwood Could Benefit From Cutbacks

State Auditor Betty Montgomery is suggesting cutbacks for a struggling city.

The audit revealed almost a dozen cutbacks intended to save the community over six million dollars.

Some of the cuts on the list are:

  • Reducing the number of full-time firefighters by 22
  • Cutting nine jobs at the Norwood Police Department (as well as cutting 6 already vacant positions
  • Restructuring the police department payscale
  • Cutting the salary of Norwood city council members

Norwood's mayor and city council president were not available for comment to the list of cutbacks.
