By entering, each participant and entrant accepts and agrees to be bound by these promotion rules.

All entrants agree to the use of their video and name(s) and likeness(es) of all team members in publicity without any additional compensation, except where prohibited by law.  By entering this promotion, the entrants acknowledge that WXIX-TV, and all other sponsors and venues have the right to publicize and broadcast the entered video and the participants name, voice and likeness, the fact that he/she/they entered, and all matters incidental thereto.

No purchase necessary.  Team members must be currently enrolled in high school to participate. Team members must be residents of and attend a high school within the following states to participate:  Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky.  This promotion is void where prohibited by law.

Employees and immediate family members of employees of Raycom Media, Inc. (RSA Tower 20th Floor - 201 Monroe Street - Montgomery, AL 36104), WXIX-TV (635 West 7th Street - Cincinnati, OH), Taco Bell, Cincinnati Bell, and their respective parent companies, affiliate, subsidiaries, suppliers, and their advertising and production agencies (collectively, the "sponsors") are not eligible to participate in this promotion.

There is one way to enter this contest.  To enter, beginning Monday, August 27, 2007, submit a  45 to 60-second video encompassing a theme of your choice.  Videos must be uploaded at FOX19.com or mailed to FOX19 - 635 West 7th Street - Cincinnati, OH 45203 - Attention Student Video Challenge.  You may also drop your entries off in person to FOX19 at the address listed above.  Entries will be accepted in person Monday through Fridays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 pm.  ALL entries submitted must be received by Friday, October 26, 2007 at 5:00 pm to be eligible for grand prize consideration.

Your submission must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • FOX19 Student Video Challenge Objective:  Utilize your creativity and develop a 45 to 60-second video encompassing a theme of your choice.
  • Be as creative and original as possible. Originality will play a large part in the selection of finalists and ultimately the grand prize winners.
  • Submissions must be the work of students. Teachers, parents and support people are encouraged to be resources, but project should consist of only student work....THIS INCLUDES MUSIC!
  • Contest is open to all Ohio, Indiana or Kentucky High School Students.
  • All entries must be submitted through an instructor/administrator at the entrant school.
  • You are encouraged to work in teams on your entries.  Although more than one entry is permissible per school, an individual student can participate in only one team entry.
  • Only one submission per team will be accepted.
  • Each team needs to create a team name.
  • Videos must be between 45 and 60-seconds.  Videos that exceed 60-seconds will not be considered.
  • The judging panel will be looking for the following characteristics within your entry
    • Creativity
    • Presentation including direction, editing, design, etc.
    • Effectiveness of communicating theme
  • Judges will consist of media industry professionals.
  • All decisions made by the judges will be final.
  • Please keep in mind that all submissions must meet the on-air standards that FOX19 follows.  FOX19 has the right to disqualify any submission for offensive content.  Offensive content may include but is not limited to:
    • Nudity
    • Foul Language
    • Weapons
    • Violence
    • Drug Usage
    • Alcohol Usage
  • All entries must be received by October 26, 2007.
  • All submissions must include the official entry form available on FOX19.COM.
  • No videos will be displayed until the official entry form is received by FOX19.
  • Finalists will be asked to provide master on DVD, Beta SP or DVC Pro.
  • By submitting, schools agree that all or part of the video can be played on WXIX-TV and/or www.FOX19.com or sponsor sites.

All entries must be received by Friday, October 26, 2007 AT 5:00 pm EST in order to qualify.  Entry forms must be filled out completely and legibly in order to qualify.  Sponsors are not responsible for lost, late, illegible, misdirected or mutilated entries including due to network failure. 

Sponsors reserve the right to use any information submitted by entrants for any purpose whatsoever.

Between October 27 and 31, 2007, a panel of media industry professionals will review all the eligible entries received.  The panel of judges will select 5 potential finalists.  Before entries can qualify as finalists, the instructor or administrator who submitted the entry is required to sign a release stating that team members, as well as students who appear in the video (or parents of team members or parents of students who appear in the video) have consented to having the video streamed on FOX19.com and broadcast on FOX19, and that the school will indemnify FOX19 for any claims related to consent and privacy issues.  In the event the instructor or administrator fails to give this release, an alternate finalist will be chosen by the panel of judges.

All entries will be available for online streaming at FOX19.com and Cincinnati Bell's ZStreet.  Each of the finalist's videos will be streamed on FOX19.com between November 1 and 16, 2007.  Additionally, the 5 finalist videos will be aired on the FOX19 Morning News, one per day between November 5 and 19, 2007.

The panel of judges will select one grand prize winner.

Viewers will have the opportunity to select the video that they determine best by casting a vote on FOX19.com.  Viewers will vote at FOX19.com.  A link with the title Student Video Challenge will be visible on the home page of FOX19.com.  A grand prize will be awarded to the video that garners the most votes during the November 1 to 16, 2007 campaign. In the event of a tie, a random draw will determine the grand prize winner.

Two grand prizes will be awarded.  One grand prize will be awarded to the video that is selected by the panel of industry professionals.  Additionally, one grand prize will be awarded via a public vote to be held on FOX19.com.  Each grand prize is $1,019.00 to be utilized by each schools video department.  The value of each grand prize is $1,019. 

One entry cannot win both the judges selection and popular vote.  In the event that the popular vote matches the judges' choice, the video with the second most popular votes will receive a grand prize.

The odds of winning will depend upon the number of entries received.

The grand prize winning schools will be solely responsible for any and all local, state and federal taxes.

By entering this promotion, each entrant forever discharges and releases sponsors, and their respective directors, officers, employees, and agents from any and all liability claims, causes of action, suits, and demands of any kind arising from or in connection with the promotion, including, without limitation, responsibility for property damage, loss of life or personal injury resulting from or in connection with participating in the promotion or from connection with use or receipt of the prize (s) however caused. 

The instructor or administrator that the school designates to pick up the prize will be required to present a valid driver's license or other appropriate picture identification to claim the prize.  The winner(s) and/or any other persons necessary will be required to execute and return a release and/or affidavit of eligibility within 7 days of date of notification or such prize will be forfeited.  Winners must take possession of his/her/their prize by December 31, 2007 or such prize will be forfeited. 

In the event of a dispute, all decisions made by WXIX-TV are final and binding.

Contest rules are subject to modification by WXIX-TV.
