An elementary school teacher is being held without bond after police say he brought crack cocaine and a crack pipe to an elementary school.

42-year-old Thomas Hearn was pulled out in the middle of class  Wednesday and arrested.

Police then searched Hearn's classroom at Sayler Park Elementary and found the drugs and the pipe.

Police say that parents tipped them off to Hearn's alleged drug use a few weeks back after children told parents about Hern falling asleep in class and a change in his demeanor.

The principal and resource officer began to observe Hearn and then made the arrest.

The district sent a letter home to parents telling them of the arrest.

Hern has taught math to fifth and six graders at the school since 1994.
