COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio's hunters will have an extra weekend of deer-gun season this year.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources says the season will open November 27th and go through December Third. Hunters will also be able to pursue deer on the weekend of December 16th and 17th.
ODNR has announced an apprentice program that will allow new hunters to accompany licensed adult hunters before they complete a hunter education course. The department says the program is designed to help pass along the hunting heritage.
About 400-thousand hunters are expected to participate in the nine-day season. The department estimates a kill of about 120-thousand deer.
ODNR says the white-tailed deer is Ohio's most popular game animal.
