Letter From Archdiocese of Cincinnati

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE  January 30, 2007

STS. PETER AND PAUL SCHOOL TO CLOSE

The deadline has passed for raising the $600,000 necessary to operate Sts. Peter and Paul School in Reading for another year. The money has not been raised. Cincinnati Archbishop Daniel E. Pilarczyk reaffirms his decision permitting the parish to close the school at the end of the current school year.

"We're putting an end to uncertainty sooner rather than later," said Archbishop Pilarczyk. "By making this decision now we enable the parents to make arrangements for their children at the earliest possible date.

"We respect the commitment and dedication of the group that has been trying to raise the money."

Three nearby parishes - Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in Reading, St. James of the Valley in Wyoming and St. Michael the Archangel in Sharonville - have agreed to admit Sts. Peter and Paul students at the same tuition as their own parishioners. At Our Lady of the Sacred Heart they will also have the benefit of priority enrollment.
