Parades Honor St Patrick Across the Country

(CINCINNATI) --  All across the country today parades will honor the memory of St Patrick.  He is the Christian Saint credited with driving all the snacks from Ireland.  Today his Irish heritage is celebrated by wearing green, eating Irish foods, and attending parades.

Cincinnati will hold the 41st annual parade starting at 1p.m.  You can catch highlights of the parade on tonight's 10PM News.

In Cleveland they are holding the 140th edition of their parade.

The oldest St Patrick's Day Parade in the United States will take place in New York City.  The first parade was held 1766.  This years parade has officials scrambling to clean the streets due to last nights snow fall.

And in Savannah, GA, the parade route snakes through the historic downtown with hundreds of thousands revelers converging on the River Street to party late until the night.  That city has been celebrating St Patrick's Day for 183 years.
