Middletown Arson Suspect Now Indicted For Murder

A Butler County Grand Jury has indicted a 20 year old Middletown man for murdering his grandfather.

The grand jury said that they found enough evidence after questioning three witnesses to charge Adam Collinsworth with murdering his grandfather, 70 year old Clarence Collinsworth.

Prosecutors say that the younger Collinsworth set to his grandfather's Middletown home on March 4th. When fire fighters arrived, the Ronald Drive home was fully engulfed in flames. Investigators said that the elder Collinsworth was found by the back door as he was trying to escape the flames.

Collinsworth is also charged with additional charges:

  • Two counts of Aggravated Arson
  • Two counts of Theft
  • Two counts of Arson
  • Burglary
  • Complicity to Burglary
  • Forgery
  • Receiving Stolen Property

Collinsworth is currently being held on a one million dollar bond.
