(CLERMONT COUNTY, Oh.) -- A man is behind bars after, police say, he killed a woman in the parking lot of a local bar.

Police arrested 38 year old Paul Daugherty of Hamersville and charged him with aggravated vehicular homicide after investigators say that he killed 39 year old Melissa Robbers.  She and a group of others were trying to stop Daugherty from driving drunk in the parking lot of Hoppy's Bar on Ohio-132.

Police say that Daugherty backed over Robbers and when he was going forward, pinned her under the car.  She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Daugherty was taken to Clermont Mercy Hospital where he was treated for injures. Police say that he refused a blood alcohol test but officers were able to get a sample after a search warrant was issued.

Daugherty is in the Clermont County jail where he is being held pending his arraignment.
