Baker and Carroll Custody Cases in Court

A pair of hearings today will help determine the direction of custody cases for the children of Amy Baker and Liz and David Carroll.

The hearings will deal at least in part with requests by parties in the justice and children's services system that future custody hearings be closed to the public and the media. FOX19 and other TV stations and newspapers have intervened to keep the cases open.

The hearings are just the latest in the continuing fallout after 3-yr-old Marcus Fiesel died last year while in the custody of the Carrolls, and while Amy Baker and her children were living in the Carroll's home.

Liz and David Carroll are serving long prison sentences, while Baker is in the Clermont County jail awaiting extradition to Kentucky, an arrest that was made on a warrant from Mason County over the objection of Clermont County prosecutors, who made a deal with Baker in order to get th evidence that was used to convict the Carrolls of murder.

Baker has three children, and the Carrolls have four. Two of the Carroll childrens' grandparents are seeking custody of them, while Baker's estranged husband and her parents have sought custody of the Baker children.
