(NEWPORT, KY) -- Cheryl McCafferty's attorneys have filed an appeal with Kentucky courts on her million dollar bond. McCafferty had previously requested a lower bond in her appearance in the Campbell County Circuit Court.
A hearing date on her appeal has not been set.
The Fort Thomas woman is accused of murdering her husband while he lay in bed back in June.
Police say McCafferty shot her husband with a handgun. She told officers and 9-1-1 dispatchers she did it because Bob McCafferty was trying to kill her.
In a court hearing today attorneys discussed the status of the evidence in the case. The prosecutor says that some of the evidence gathered in the home has been sent to the FBI Lab in Quantico, Virginia. Other evidence was sent to the KSP Lab in Frankfort and to Hamilton County.
McCafferty's next pre-trial court appearance is scheduled for September 12th.
