Update: 8 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27

Dieterle took the stand on Wednesday and took full responsibility for his wife's murder. He admitted to raping and strangling her, but offered no excuse, and said that he has minimized the events of that night.

Dieterle's parents also took the stand, saying they had already lost their daughter-in-law, and didn't want to lose their son, too.

Sentencing will continue on Thursday.
