UPDATE: Billboards Aim To Get Joe In Hall Of Fame

(HAMILTON, OH) --

Update:

The Ol' Lefthander is getting a pacemaker.

Nuxhall was hospitalized Tuesday with pneumonia and doctors wanted to wait until his heart rate returned to normal before the procedure which happens at 8 a.m.

Doctors believe his heart has been beating out of rhythm causing fluid to build up, and they hope this will help his heart to pump more efficiently.

While he remains in the hospital, the push to get him in the Hall of Fame gets stronger. Norton Outdoor Advertising donated four electronic billboards urging fans to vote Joe into the broadcasters wing of the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Previously:

Reds legend Joe Nuxhall is back in the hospital.

His son, Kim, tells FOX19.. His doctors didn't like his heart rate and blood count... So they checked him into Mercy Fairfield.

Kim says he hopes to be released in a day or two.

Nuxhall just found out a few months ago that he's battling a fourth round of cancer.

The family wants to thank everyone for their well wishes that are coming in from all over the country.

Meanwhile, a group of Nuxhall supporters are gathering in Hamilton today, rallying for Nuxhall to be voted into the Broadcasters Wing of the Baseball Hall of Fame.
