(MIDLAND, OH) -- A man who wrecked his car in Harlan Township Wednesday night stole a Good Samaritan's car and led police on a chase.
Shortly after 11 p.m., Robert Hass, 26, wrecked his car in the 8000 block of State Route 123. Witnesses indicated Hass was outside his vehicle, kicking it.
Two other motorists stopped in an attempt to assist him. Hass tried to get into one of the vehicles and was unsuccessful. He did get into the second vehicle, a black SUV, and drove off.
Deputies in Warren County spotted the car and initiated a pursuit. The chase was terminated in Clinton County when Clinton County deputies and Ohio State Patrol troopers took over. Hass eventually wrecked the SUV on State Route 68 in Clinton County.
Hass was critically injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.
Charges are pending.
