(COVINGTON, KY) -- Covington police officers remember a fallen colleague 10 years after his death.
A memorial was held overnight. From 2 until 2:30 Friday morning, the Clay Wade Bailey bridge was shut down in honor of officer Mike Partin.
It was during those hours 10 years ago that the tragic accident happened.
Officer Partin fell from the bridge while chasing a suspect and drowned.
Dozens of police officers braved the overnight cold to honor him. A wreath was laid at the site and those that loved him bowed their heads in silence.
His widow says the memories came pouring back.
"Knowing how cold it is, and knowing what happened, and not knowing what happened because we were never going to know, what goes through my mind and heart is what was going through Mike's," said Lisa Partin.
The man partin was chasing, Shawntae Robertson, was convicted of manslaughter and was sentenced to six years in prison for the officer's death. He only served two years and is a free man today.
