(BURLINGTON, KY) -- An 8-year-old boy is honored on Friday afternoon as a junior Boone County deputy for helping save his mother's life.
On Saturday, Dec. 22, Jeremy Cooper, 8. of Patty Lane in Florence witnessed his mother have a grand mal seizure. He took it upon himself to position her so she wouldn't injure herself, he called 911 for medical assistance, soothed his two younger siblings who were frightened by the episode, and called his grandparents so they could come over and take the care of the younger children because their mother would be going to the hospital.
He then went to the end of the driveway and flagged down the responding deputy. As they entered the house, he showed the deputy where her medication was located.
The Boone County Sheriff's Department is honoring Jeremy for his quick thinking and courage by swearing him in as a Junior Deputy at the Sheriff's Department. He will also receive a commendation from the Kentucky House of Representatives presented by Representative Addia Wuchner. Wal-Mart will be giving him a new bicycle.
