13 people were sent to the hospital after a reactor exploded at the Sumco Chemical Plant on Grandlin Road early Saturday morning.
Around 2:15am, a reactor used for processing computer parts exploded. One person was injured and was flown to Miami Valley Hospital by Care Flight. They are listed in fair condition.
12 other people were taken to Bethesda North Hospital to be evaluated for exposure to chemicals as a precautionary measure. So far, no one is showing any symptoms of any exposure.
Hazmat crews stayed on the scene to test and monitor the scene. There was some structural damage but virtually no fire damage. As of now, there is no estimate of damaged caused.
