Boy Killed After Car Hits Skateboard

Cincinnati Police Traffic Unit is investigating the death of a 14-year-old boy who was skateboarding in the street and hit by a vehicle Saturday evening.

The 14-year-old boy was skateboarding on Basset Avenue around 7:00pm Saturday evening. The boy entered the intersection of Bassett Avenue and Fairbanks Avenue when he failed to stop at a stop sign. He was then struck by a vehicle driven by 71-year-old James McNamara.

The boy was taken to Children's Hospital where he died. McNamara was not injured in the crash.

The traffic unit is currently investigating the crash, but so far, no charges have been filed. Excessive speed and alcohol are not factors and James McNamara was wearing a seat belt.
