(CINCINNATI) -- Police continue to investigate a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred Monday afternoon on Mehring Way, between Central Ave. and Smith St.
Police say William E. Westheider, 22, of Sedamsville, was operating a motorcycle westbound on Mehring Way at a high rate of speed when he failed to control the bike and ran off the road, striking the curb, a utility pole and two trees.
Westheider was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a helmet.
The Traffic Unit is investigating the involvement of a Ford Mustang in the crash. Scott Shephers, 31, of Fairmount was operating the vehicle. Police say he stopped his car after the crash, but left the crash scene prior to the arrival of police. Police have located his vehicle.
Henrico Moore, 26, of Fairmount, was a passenger in Shepher's vehicle. He was arrested on unrelated warrants.
Kristine L. Langen, 24, of Westwood, was also a passenger.
No charges have yet been filed. Police ask any witnesses to call the Traffic Unit at 513-352-2514.
