(CINCINNATI) -- A man pled guilty on Thursday in a murder case that's over 20 years old.
Chris Ballard admitted to killing 11-year-old Tina Dukes in 1987, then dumping her body in a home on John Street in Cincinnati.
He was 25 at the time of the murder and has been living in Dayton.
Ballard was arrested for the crime in May of 2006 and had his pretrial last week. Investigators say DNA evidence helped solve the case.
Ballard made the plea in front of the three-judge panel of David Davis, Charles Kubicki Jr. and Alex Triantafilou. The panel will decide on Feb. 1 whether or not to accept the plea and if Ballard could get the death penalty.
Tina's family only hopes for justice.
"He needs to rot in hell for what he did the way he did it burned her body like that, he needs to rot in hell," said Tina's uncle, Anthony Dukes.
