(VILLA HILLS, KY) -- A northern Kentucky man who died serving in Iraq will be honored with a permanent memorial.
The Villa Hills city council is going ahead with plans for a memorial for Chief Petty Officer Gregory Billiter.
The Villa Hills Historical Society wants to honor Gregory Billiter by planting a tree in his honor on the island at the intersection of Valley Trails Drive and Dalewood Drive.
Billiter spent 15 years in the Navy and was a graduate of Covington Latin High School in 1987 and was a member of St. Joseph church in Crescent Springs, was killed near Kirkuk, Iraq on April 6, 2007.
He was 36 and left behind a wife and a son. He was on his third tour of duty in Iraq.
