UPDATE: Cause Of Pendleton Co. Fire Ruled "Undetermined"

(BULTER, KY) --

Update: The cause of the fire that kille 4-year-old Billy Hughes has been ruled undetermined.

The Kentucky state fire marshal says the material in the house was damaged so heavily that they could not determine a cause.

Update: The remains of 4-year-old Billy Hughes have been recovered from the scene of Friday afternoon's house fire in Butler, Kentucky. 

The boy's father, Jamie Hughes, was taken by helicopter to University Hospital in Cincinnati. Christa Hughes was able to escape the fire without injuries. 

The fire destoyed the home making it difficult to find the body of the young child.  After an extensive search using cadaver dogs the child's body was discovered late Friday night.

A Pendleton County boy has died after a fire engulfed his home.

Flames broke out at the home on Mill Street in Butler. The boy died at the scene.

Sheriff Craig Peoples says the mother and father escaped through a window, but their child was on the first floor and did not get out.

His father was air lifted to University Hospital with serious burns. The mother escaped the home OK.

There is no word on a cause. FOX19 will bring you the latest information as we get it.
