Traffic Stop Leads To Additional Charges

(CONNERSVILLE, IN) -- A routine traffic stop has led to additional charges for two individuals.

Wednesday night around 11:30 p.m., a trooper was behind a green Oldsmobile that was driving erratically and stopped the vehicle just east of Lakeshore Resorts on Fairfield Causeway Road.

The driver of the vehicle, Matthew S. Hayes, 22, of Hamilton, Ohio, was found to be intoxicated and taken to the Franklin County Jail where he was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and public intoxication. He was later charged with carrying a handgun without a permit after a search of the vehicle turned up a handgun. His bond was set at $5,000.

A K9 unit was called to the scene to do an inventory search of the vehicle and the dog found a bag containing approximately 120 pills.

The passenger in the car, Jacob Bowman, 22, also of Hamilton, was arrested and charged with dealing in a schedule II controlled substance, possession of a schedule II controlled substance and possession of a switchblade knife. His bond was set at $15,000.
