Apartment Fire Leaves One Family Homeless

A local family is getting help from the Red Cross after a fire destroyed their home early Sunday morning.

Cincinnati Fire responded to the 200 block of Fairbanks Ave for a report of a kitchen fire at an apartment complex around 4:30am. The fire was contained to one apartment and was put out in 20 minutes.

There were no smoke detectors in the home, but the family was awaken by the smell of smoke and was able to escape from the home.

Damage is estimated to be at 40,000 dollars. The two adults and two children are receiving assistance from the Red Cross. The other tenants were able to return to their homes in the apartment complex.

The cause is undetermined and under investigation.
