Woman Seriously Injured After Bizarre Series Of Events
(RIVERSIDE, OH) --
U.S. 50 was shut down in both directions most of Tuesday morning between Anderson Ferry and Bender Road due to two accidents involving the same woman.
Just before 8 a.m., police say Tracy Kelty, 26, of Addyston, lost control of her Ford Mustang, crossed the center line on westbound U.S. 50 and struck a curb and railroad tracks on the left side of the roadway. The vehicle went airborne before coming to rest in an embankment.
Kelty then got out of the car and headed back toward the road when she was struck by a red Jeep traveling eastbound and driven by Karen Wainscott, 57, of Cleves.
Police have determined that alcohol was a factor in both of the crashes. Witnesses say it was raining hard when the crashes happened.
Kelty is listed in serious condition at University Hospital, but her injuries are considered non-life threatening. No charges have been filed.
Wainscott was not injured. Both women were wearing a seat belt.
