Commissioners To Declare "Matt Maupin Day"

(BATAVIA, OH) -- The Clermont County Board of Commissioners will play tribute to a fallen soldier by declaring April 9, 2008 as "Matt Maupin Day" in Clermont County.

It was on April 9, 2004 that SSgt. Maupin was first reported missing in Iraq after his convoy came under heavy enemy fire.

"His situation united this community in ways I have never seen before," said Clermont County commission president Bob Proud. "People locally, nationally, and even internationally, pinned yellow ribbons on their lapels, and tied them on their cars and homes in support of Matt and the many others who serve their country in foreign lands."
