11-Year-Old Girl Accidentally Shot In The Head By Brother Dies In Hospital

(CLEVELAND, OH) -- An 11-year-old Cleveland girl has died at Rainbow Babies Wednesday morning after being accidentally shot in the head by her 10-year-old brother late Tuesday evening.

The accidental shooting happened when 10-year-old brother found a gun in the closet while searching for school clothes at 2918 E.121st Street.

The boy turned to ask his 14-year-old brother what it was and then it went off, striking his sister in the head.

The girl suffered a very serious brain injury from the accidental shooting and was taken to Rainbow Babies late Tuesday evening.

There were a total of six children and both parents in the home at the time when the gun went off.

Officers learned that the 14-year-old brother was responsible for putting the weapon in the closet and claims that he found the revolver along with a .22 caliber rifle behind an abandoned home in the area of E. 118 Street and Buckeye.

Police have recovered both weapons.

The 14-year-old has been arrested and charged with felonious assault.
