Southern Delight Ketchup, Shrimp Cocktail and Horseradish

Quick & Tasty Homemade Tomato Ketchup

An Easy, Low-Sodium, Heart-Healthy Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 8 oz. Can No-Salt-Added Tomato Sauce
  • 1.5-2 Tsp. Southern Delight No-Salt-Added CLASSIC Garlic & Mustard Seasoning Blend
  • 2 Tsp. Sugar
  • 1/8 Tsp. Salt Substitute
  • 2 Tbsp. Apple Cider Vinegar

DIRECTIONS

For a mild flavored ketchup, begin with 1.5 tsp. of Classic Garlic & Mustard Seasoning Blend, and adjust to your preference. Simply whisk the ingredients together in a bowl and it's ready to serve. Store in a glass jar in the refrigerator. Makes about 1 cup. Enjoy!

This recipe can easily be made sugar-free by substituting your preferred sugar substitute.

The Best From-Scratch Shrimp Cocktail

INGREDIENTS

Shrimp:

  • 1.5 Lb. Bag Frozen Medium RAW Peeled and Deveined Shrimp
  • 2 Tbsp. Southern Delight No-Salt-Added Basil & Oregano Italian Seasoning Blend
  • 1 Tsp. Salt Substitute
  • 2 Tbsp. Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Cocktail Sauce:

  • 1 8 oz. Can No-Salt-Added Tomato Sauce
  • 2 Tsp. Southern Delight No-Salt-Added CLASSIC Garlic & Mustard Seasoning Blend
  • 2 Tsp. Sugar
  • 1/8 Tsp. Salt Substitute
  • 2 Tbsp. Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1/4 C. Prepared Horseradish Base

DIRECTIONS

Bring 3 quarts of water to rapid boil, adding seasonings and oil. Drop frozen Shrimp into water. When water returns to boil, remove shrimp and chill quickly. Whisk together Cocktail Sauce ingredients and serve in short Margarita glasses. Garnish with lemon slice and celery stalk. Serves 4. Enjoy!

Fresh Prepared Horseradish

An Easy, Low-Sodium, Heart-Healthy Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 lb. Fresh Horseradish Root, peeled, rinsed and cubed
  • 1 small Turnip, peeled, rinsed and cubed
  • 1.5 C. White Vinegar

DIRECTIONS


Peel, rinse and dice fresh Horseradish Root into 1" cubes and place in food processor. Peel, rinse and dice fresh Turnip into 1" cubes and add to the Horseradish Root. Process by pulsing at first, then turn on processor and process until chopped finely, adding 1.5 C. White Vinegar. Store in glass jars, tightly closed. Horseradish that you don't plan to use in a few months should be frozen. This is great on beef, pork or lamb. A great base for Horseradish Sauce and for Seafood Cocktail Sauce. Makes roughly two pints.
