Bridesmaid Arrested On Way To Wedding Pleads Not Guilty

(BATAVIA, OH) -- An Owensville woman accused of driving under the influence while on her way to be a bridesmaid in her sister's wedding pled not guilty in court on Monday.

Authorities say a vehicle driven by 28-year-old Jennifer Wheeler struck a tree along a Clermont County road on Sunday.

A state trooper charged her with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. She is also accused of failure to control her vehicle and driving with an invalid license.

Officials say she faces other charges, including child endangering, because her two young children were in the back seat.

"I've never been in any trouble, and I'm a great mother. I wasn't under the influence of alcohol," she said in court.

Wheeler also faces felony drug charges after police found she had hidden Xanex pills in her purse and bra when she was booked in a Clermont County jail. She will be in court for those charges next week. She says the pills were prescribed to her.

She is being held on a $5,000 bond. staff with information from The Associated Press
