Man Arrested For Swimming Across Ohio River As A Bet

(COVINGTON) -- A friendly bet among friends has landed a Florence man in jail.

Covington police say 27-year old Edward Hunt is charged with disorderly conduct for swimming in the Ohio River as the Reds game let out on Sunday.

A witness called 911 after seeing Hunt performing backstrokes across the river. The witness said Hunt told him someone would pay him $3 if he swam across.

Hunt tells FOX19 that he wasn't paid $3, and he never talked to the witness.

Hunt says that he bet someone that if the Reds came back to win the game, he'd swim home. The Reds came back from a 3-1 deficit in the 10th inning to win 4-3.
