(WHITEWATER TOWNSHIP, OH) --
Update: Friday, May 30:
Crews worked all day Thursday to removed the locomotive from Interstate 275.
Workers removed the train and placed it on a truck around midnight. It will be towed away Friday morning.
Just in time for Memorial Day weekend, crews have installed a crossover lane to open both directions of Interstate 74.
The interstate has been closed while crews deal with a tractor trailer accident from Tuesday night. The truck was carrying a locomotive engine, which crashed into two of three support beams on the bridge holding the interstate over I-275.
The lane will redirect one lane of eastbound 74 traffic onto westbound 74. This will eliminate the I-275/Kilby Road detour.
Crews have been working around the clock installing temporary asphalt, concrete barriers, signs and lighting for the crossover lane.
In addition, one lane of the westbound ramp to southbound I-275 is now open to traffic.
The Ohio Department of Transportation says complete repair to the bridge will still take about 90 days.
