Possible heart attack causes crash in Goshen Township

(GOSHEN TOWNSHIP, OH) -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal traffic crash in Goshen.

It happened just before 10 p.m. on Monday on SR 28 at Goshen Road.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Thomas L. Williams, 56, of Morrow, was driving a Pontiac Firebird when he veered off the left side of the road and struck a cement culvert and two traffic signs.

Goshen Township EMS workers say Williams was unresponsive after the crash, but there were no visible signs of injury and minimal damage to the vehicle. Investigators believe Williams suffered a heart attack or some type of medical condition prior to the crash.

According to police, Williams' family members say he had been complaining of chest pains earlier in the week.

Police say alcohol was not a factor, and Williams was wearing a seat belt.

The crash remains under investigations.
