Carthage man killed by train in Hartwell

(UPDATE) -- Cincinnati Police have identified the man as Christopher Shufelt of Carthage.

(HARTWELL) -- A Carthage man has been struck and killed by a train.

It happened around 10 a.m. at Anthony Wayne Ave. and East Galbraith Road in Hartwell.

Friends of the victim he was a 22-year-old male who would search along the tracks for scrap metal to sell. They say he recently lost his mother and was trying to find scrap metal to sell to raise money for his mother's funeral expenses, and to take care of his younger brother.

Police have not yet released the victim's name.
