Woman gets 14 years for crash that killed unborn baby

(BATAVIA, OH) -- A woman who ran a stop sign and caused a crash that killed an unborn baby will spend the next 14 years behind bars.

Shauna Willenburg, 27, was under the influence when she crashed into a car driven by Robert Lloyd last October on U.S. 50 near Owensville.

Lloyd's wife, Stephanie, was eight months pregnant at the time. The fetus died as a result of the crash.

Willenburg was sentenced on two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide for the injuries sustained to Robert and Stephanie Lloyd and one count of aggravated vehicular homicide for the death of their unborn baby.

In a statement read by her attorney, Willenburg said she showed remorse for the accident. However, Judge Jerry McBride didn't buy it, telling Willenburg she had not accepted responsibility for the accident, and only then could she show genuine remorse.

Willenburg asked for probation so she could go home to be with her children, but Judge McBride said that sentence was not appropriate for the damage she called to the Lloyd family.
