CPS Superintendent Finalists To Meet Community

(CINCINNATI, OH) - The Cincinnati Board of Education today announced times when the public can meet the two finalists selected in the search for a new Superintendent for Cincinnati Public Schools.

Selected Wednesday, the finalists -  Diana Bourisaw, Superintendent of St. Louis Public Schools, and Donnie Evans, Superintendent of Providence (Rhode Island) Public Schools - will return to Cincinnati next week for daylong site visits that will include opportunities for community members to meet them and ask them questions.

Those times and locations are as follows:

Dr. Diana Bourisaw, Superintendent of St. Louis Public Schools    

1:45-2:45 p.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2008     

Cincinnati Public Schools Education Center

Dr. Bourisaw has been Superintendent of St. Louis Public Schools since July 2006. Her accomplishments include increasing enrollment in Advanced Placement courses by more than four-fold, reducing the district's drop-out rate and balancing the district's budget while reducing its debt by 50 percent in a year. Prior to her current position, she served as president of a Missouri consulting firm specializing in organizational, accountability and financial reviews of high-poverty districts.

Dr. Donnie Evans, Superintendent of Providence (R.I.) Public Schools

Dr. Evans has been Superintendent of Providence Public Schools since September 2005. His accomplishments include significantly increasing the number of schools making Adequate Yearly Progress under the No Child Left Behind Act, raising the graduation rate and spearheading an effort to develop a Facilities Master Plan to replace or renovate school buildings. Prior to his current position, Dr. Evans served as Chief District Academic Officer for the Hillsborough County Public School System in Tampa, Florida.
