Downtown car fire sends smoke through garage, evacuates hotel

(CINCINNATI) -- A car fire at a downtown Cincinnati parking garage has sent smoke through the facility and evacuated a popular hotel.

The fire broke out around 11 a.m. at the garage underneath the Westin Hotel, near Fifth and Vine Streets.

Some employees and guests of the hotel were evacuated while crews battled smoke. The smoke could be seen outside the hotel, backing up traffic on Vine St.

No one was hurt, but it took firefighters several minutes to get the fire out, and smoke was billowing through the stairwells close to an hour later.

Investigators are determining what started the fire.
