Day care worker accused of showing porn to 10-year-old

(MOUNT HEALTHY, OH) -- Police in Mount Healthy are investigating a local day care worker who is accused of showing pornographic images to a 10-year-old boy.

The boy's mother came to police claiming her son told her he was shown the images by Charles V. Day, 38, of Cincinnati.

According to the police report, the son said he was shown the images on the computers of the Day Adventures day care, which is owned by Day. The child told a counselor that Day showed him images of "people touching themselves and doing other things." The police report says the boy also saw cartoon characters Scooby Doo and Shaggy, as well as adult men and women engaging in inappropriate acts.

Police say Day's brother, John Day, 38, of Middletown, was also aware of the incident.

Police obtained search warrants for the day care's computers, and an investigation is in progress.

Charles Day is also a foster father who is licensed through an independent agency, but has been utilized in Hamilton County.

Hamilton County Job and Family Services spokesman Brian Gregg said a child died while in his care last year, after the child jumped from a moving vehicle while the family was on their way to church.

Gregg says JFS was providing subsidized funding to Day's day care, but notified the day care on May 30th that they would be terminating the contract, using a 30-day notice clause that would allow JFS to terminate for any reason.

Gregg says there were about 76 children in the day care.

Charles Day is charged with disseminating matter harmful to juveniles. He is out of jail on bond. Court records show no prior convictions in Hamilton County.
