(CINCINNATI) -- The Hamilton County Engineer's Office says they are investigating the possible misuse of public funds in their office.
Ted Hubbard, Chief Deputy County Engineer, says that they are looking into problems with the escrow account for the department. He was unable to describe the scope of the problem but said that it was not impacting any current construction programs in Hamilton County.
The escrow account is where the engineer's office holds payments until contractors finish a project.
Hubbard says the office noticed some irregularities in the escrow account and questioned an unidentified employee who handles that account. The matter has been referred to the Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office who has issued a request for a complete audit by the Auditor of the State of Ohio.
